Big Pimpin' with Axel Edward

Well, clearly since you haven't seen a post cheering from the highest mountain that we're on our way home, we are still snug as a bug in our swaddle within the walls of the NICU.

We are very fortunate in that somehow this kid is already rolling VIP style and has had his own room in the NICU since day one.  Big pimpin', y'all.   We are actually in our second room... (he got bumped for twins... what the heck?)  They told us in the first VIP room that the chances of him staying in there were pretty slim.   We walked in the other day and headed into the room and there was no baby.  Um... whereismybaby...

Turns out he was big pimpin' in another room with much better windows.   It's a little noisy in here, as it's in the back of the main NICU which is full of monitors and crying itty bitties... but it's still our own little secluded space where we can play our cool tunes and talk about our day.

Thank you for those of you who have given us song suggestions so far!  I have added all of them to the playlist and it's so much fun to stop and listen and think fondly of the person who gave us the idea and tell him a little bit about them.  So if you haven't shared a song yet, please do - either here or on Facebook.   All are included (except for the Venga Boys, Heidi, I just couldn't do that... but you gave another one so you are represented).

The highlight was that one of my old friends from home, a fellow Sara (no h), recommend the song 99 Problems by Jay Z.  We were cranking out the jams for Axel and getting our feed on when that song came on... kind of loud.  And I realized that I had not put the edited version on the playlist.  Ben and I were trying our hardest to grab the phone and turn it down without dropping something (namely the baby) so that we didn't offend the family nearby.  We now have the edited version. :)  So Sara, you are represented as well.  Ha.

Ben and I have quickly learned that nurses like to eat sweets.  We have been bringing them cookies - and now they all love us.  Well, really they love Ben because he's the one who makes them and flirts with the nurses.   I just smile and nod and take the good karma.   He goes back to work tomorrow so he's sending me into the nurses' den sans sweets on my own.  This may be a scary day... he decided to go back to work this week so that he can take at least a week when our boy finally gets to go home.

Oh, you need a picture about now, don't you?
Auntie B gave him this outfit.  Fist pump to you, Auntie B.

On to business... we still are very hot/cold when it comes to our feedings, so we are still working to get that consistency.   He had a good night the night before last, did okay yesterday, but last night he only took 15 - 20 mls per feeding. :(  Dad fed him this morning and he did great, though, taking the full forty.  He's just been gavaged at 3, so we'll see how he does at 6.

Ben got jealous of the "Mommy's Little Man" pic that we have... here it is again for your viewing pleasure.

And so he made sure that this one was taken...

Other cute pics for your enjoyment.. :)

Keep sharing the love and send us more songs for this boy.  :)   XOXO
